FiSCA Recognizes Joseph Coleman as Financial Service Provider of the Year

Outgoing Chairman Recognized for his Five Years of Leadership and Service to the Industry

(Washington, D.C., October 8, 2012) - At its 24th Annual Conference & Exposition, held in Chicago, IL, Financial Service Centers of America (FiSCA) recognized Joseph Coleman, President of RiteCheck Cashing and FiSCA’s Chairman for the past five years, as the recipient of its William Siegel Financial Service Provider of the Year Award. This is the 22nd year FiSCA has presented this award to a leader in the financial service center industry.

Coleman was recognized for his outstanding leadership during his tenure as Chairman of FiSCA. During that time, the association has faced, and overcome, a number of challenges including the transition of the organization to Washington D.C. Others included the FDIC Committee on Economic Inclusion, which initially failed to include financial service centers, and the newly formed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau which now has regulatory oversight over virtually the entire industry. On these and other issues Chairman Coleman has been instrumental in advocating FiSCA’s position.

Commenting on this year’s announcement, Joseph Doyle, the Association’s incoming Chairman, said: “Joe has been the captain of our ship for five very challenging and, ultimately, successful years. In fact, he embodies all those qualities that are commonly associated with great leaders: diplomat, counselor, visionary. Joe understands the importance of proactive involvement - with federal legislators and regulators, with others in the industry and within his own company so that it excels in the marketplace, even in challenging times. Joe is a tireless advocate for our industry and sets standards for business practices that many of us admire.

“We have been extremely fortunate to have Joe as our leader these past five years and, because he has, we are in a far stronger position now to better represent, serve and advocate for our industry. His selection as Financial Service Provider of the Year is richly deserved.”

In addition to serving as a Chairman of FiSCA, Coleman is an active member and former president of Financial Service Centers of New York.
